For those of you who asked, here are my current makeup essentials.
They're tried and true and all you need for a simple, mid coverage look. I didn't include what I use for my eyes, because I like to mix and match different palettes everyday for a unique look. If you're looking for a do-it-all palette, I would suggest the Urban Decay Naked Smokey. It has all you need to take your look from subtle to dramatic.
1.) Smashbox Step by Step Contour Palette - This palette is AMAZING! I originally started using the Kat Von D Shade and Light palette and I loved it, but felt like it was a waste. That palette comes with three sets of contour and highlight, designed for every skin tone. Needless to say, when I finished my shades, I was left with four full trays of highlights and contours that were too light and too dark, respectively. This palette has only three and is the best for those of us with light to medium skin tones who want a subtle definition. It also works well on darker skin tones and comes with an excellent bronzer and free contour brush. A win all around: Just swipe some highlighter under your eyes and I promise you'll look and feel more alive. It's like an espresso for your face!
2.) Laura Mercier Eye Basics Eyeshadow Primer - I'm a huge fan of Laura Mercier. The line has great formulas that absorb oil, keep skin hydrated and stay on throughout the day without looking cakey or flaking off. This eyeshadow primer is great because it matches your eye lid colour for seamless blending and an even base. (I wear the shade "Linen" and it's also great as an under eye primer in a pinch).
3.) Anastasia Beverly Hills Nicole Guerriero Glow Kit - You've probably seen this glow kit swiped all over arms across Instagram, but I have to say, the hype was REAL. This is my all time favourite glow kit. From subtle golden "143" to all out blinding "Forever Lit" these highlighters are all you need to make your features pop and they look great layered over each other or used to brighten up a bare face. If you want that unicorn-worthy glow, this is the palette for you <3
4.) Rimmel London Scandal Eyes Eyeliner Pen in 001 Black - One of the few things in my makeup arsenal not found at Sephora, this is my ALL TIME FAVOURITE eyeliner pen. I've literally tried almost every one on the market, even the ridiculously expensive ones (MAC's Rapid Black I'm looking at you) but this is the best. The pen is tapered for drawing extra sharp wings and the formula is smudge proof, true-to-it's-name black (not grey or pale when applied to skin) and practically budge proof. I've gotten eye drops put in at the optometrist wearing it, showered with it on and rubbed my eyes accidentally and it's stayed put.
5.) Urban Decay All Nighter Setting Spray - This is one of my all time favourite setting sprays because of it's lightweight but invincible hold. You can go running wearing this stuff and you won't sweat it off. True to it's name it'll stay put all day or night, but routine touch ups don't hurt.
My other favourite setting products not shown are Makeup Forever's Mist and Fix oxygen complex setting spray (it's like a splash of cold water for your face) and Holika Holika's Gudetama Tone Up Cushion compact (SPF 50).
I'll do a post later on about my K-Beauty haul, but this was one of the MVPs. I can't leave home without it now!
6.) Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturizer SPF 20 in "Nude" - As stated before, this is probably my favourite skin line to date. Every product I've tried has been fail proof, but this moisturizer takes the cake. It's really light weight, lightly tinted and easily blendable for light or layered coverage. It comes in a variety of colour true shades to match your natural skin tone. It's perfect for summer and lasts well in hot and humid temperatures. Bonus that it's SPF 20! I currently wear the shade "Nude" but if you tan at all in the summer, I'd suggest going up a shade (I'm going up to "Sand")
7.) Smashbox Photo Finish Foundation Primer - I've probably already posted this, but this is my favourite line of primers to date. This formula glides on and sits on top of your skin for a perfectly smooth base and they have different formulas for different problems (I also have the Blemish Control primer with salicylic acid).
8.) Hourglass Cosmetics Vanish Seamless Foundation Stick in "Porcelain" - I've had this foundation stick for a few months now and it's may favourite light weight formula. (The heavy duty favourite is the Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk foundation in #4 )
The triangular tube helps you reach the corners under your eye and the creamy feel doesn't look cakey even on really dry skin. If your wear any foundation this summer, this formula is my top pick. You can even use it to cover up small blemishes and it works like a charm. It really does make your imperfections vanish!
9.) MAC Veluxe Brow Liner in "Brunette" - is my personal favourite brow product. I'm not to crazy about drawing my eyebrows on every morning (shoutout to the girls who Anastasia Dip Brow every day, you guys have the skill!) but I do like a clean look. This is a great quick brush on and go tool for a subtle but fuller brow.
10.) NARS Invisible Loose Setting Powder - The best high coverage setting power I've come across. You can bath your face in this stuff and it would blend right in. I always use it to set my look before using the liquid setting sprays. Two times the setting ensures my look'll stay put. My only problem with this powder is that it gets everywhere. Even if you screw the cap on tight, it still manages to get all over the place, but i've had it for a while now and I still have a lot to go through so at least you're not loosing a lot of product.
That's all for now guys. This is all I need to create an elaborate or simple day to night look. These products come with me everywhere and they've stood the test of time. Hope this helps and if you have any questions, feel free to DM me on the 'Gram. I'll keep updating as I find new indispensable products <3
